Display All Image Sizes

Description

View and Use Every Size of Your Images

When you upload an image to your WordPress site, WordPress auto-generates lots of sizes of it. However, there aren’t many good ways to see and use those sizes:

  • The Media Attachment page in “Media” doesn’t list anything about the different image sizes, or the permalinks to use them.
  • “Add Media” in the post editor doesn’t always show you all the sizes that exist (such as sizes intended for featured images).
  • There’s no easy way to simply copy a custom-sized image’s permalink.

Until now! Display All Image Sizes displays information about every size of every image: name, dimensions, and permalink.

How to Use

Just install and activate the plugin, and you’ll see a list of all sizes of each image in both the “Add Media” pop-up modal, and in each image’s individual page in “Media.” (See Screenshots.)

I needed exactly this plugin for working with the AcyMailing newsletter plugin. AcyMailing offers two ways to insert an image into the email – in the text editor (TinyMCE strangely configured) or as a block. In both cases there is no way to select an image size, and default is the original size. One can enter the URL of the image – but normal users (who uploaded fotos from their smartphones) won’t know how to get the URL of a thumb by looking on the disc with FTP… And due to the proportional resizing you really do have to have that individual file name with the calculated pixel sizes. This plugin was the way ahead. And as a previous reviewer noted, it really is skinny. There’s effectively nothing which could go wrong with it 🙂 The problem was only to find it – as it is so old, WordPress plugin search doesn’t show it, at least not on the first seven pages. I found a mention of it in a YouTube video and then actually had to use Google to find it!!! So PLEASE, dear author, just update the “Tested to”, that would be really great! One day later: Well, I’ve now created an updated version of the plugin myself, with an icon to copy the selected size (path) to the clipboard. Translation ready, and translated to German. I don’t have the time to put it on wordpress.org, but you can get it here. It’s clean, but please feel free to unpack it and check it for yourself.

This plugin is very helpful and valuable. If developer adds a button that would allow to do one-click copying of the URL into clipboard this will become a hell of indispensable plugin for people who tinker a lot with images. Please consider.

Expecially useful (essential?) during development of a project which involves trying out various themes, each of which typically creates its own image sizes. It’s a perfect companion to Regenerate Thumbnails. Thank you for this plugin. PS: Oh yeah, I love how skinny it is.
